FPC Youth Ministry
A Place of G.R.A.C.E.
The youth are not
only the church of the future-they are the church of TODAY!
In
Matthew 22 and 28, Jesus instructs us on the core of our very existence,
for it is in these Holy words that we find the “Great Commandment”
and the “Great Commission.” Indeed, we are called
to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and equally
to this, we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. In Matthew
28, the Great Commission, we are to “go out and make disciples
of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, son and
Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you.”
You see, contained
in these passages are the 5 New Testament purposes of our ministry.
They are a blueprint for a holistic approach to ministry.
To break it down further, we are to:
-
“Love
God”
-
Worship
-
“Love
our neighbor”
-
Ministry
-
“Make
Disciples”
-
Evangelism
-
“Baptize
them”
-
Fellowship
-
“Teaching
them to obey”
-
Discipleship
Jesus has laid it
before us on what we are to do as Christians. It is from these
passages that our youth ministry has formed its’ purpose.
Why do we, youth and adults, exist in this ministry? We exist because
of G.R.A.C.E.
We…
Glorify
God
Reach
non-believers,
Accept
all God’s children
Care
for others, and
Equip youth for discipleship.
Indeed, our youth ministry is a place of
G.R.A.C.E. We are not event driven, we are God driven. The
foundation on why we exist is steadfast.
