Prayers
and Thoughts for Reflection
There
are hands that help and comfort,
Now
faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do
not see. Today is a new day, Lord, show me how to spend my time. Guide me, inspire me - empower me. Give me the courage to face each day’s pressing problems. Help me to remember to ask you for help. Provide me a quiet confidence that I may be a positive example of your vision. Amen. Faith
is believing in things when common sense tells you not to. Faith
is not belief without proof, but trust without reservations. Faith
is like radar that sees through the fog. Blessed
is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He
will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots
by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always
green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear
fruit. Faith
is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
Faith
is an act of rational choice which determines us to act as if certain
things were true and in the confident expectation that they will prove
to be true. Reason
is our soul's left hand, Faith her right. Heavenly Father, lead me down the path you would like me to follow. Show me how to spend my time and not to waste it. Strengthen me with the power of prayer and refresh me with the words of Scripture. I thank you for your invitation to spend time with you. Amen Fear
knocked at the door. Faith answered. And lo, no one was there. Jesus
touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith it will
be done to you." Fear
imprisons, faith liberates; In Thee, O Lord, I have put my trust. Let me feel your hand on my shoulder. When tasks seem impossible, show me what is possible. When depressed over what remains to be done, remind me to be thankful for all that has been accomplished. When I am tired, warm me. Make me as reliable as sunrise after sunset. Help me become the most I can be for you. Amen. Faith
is like a boomerang; begin using what you have - and it comes back
to you in greater measure. To
me faith means not worrying. Faith
is courage; it is creative while despair is always destructive. Faith
is the bird that sings when the dawn is still dark. Be
like the bird that, passing on her flight awhile on boughs too slight,
feels them give way beneath her, and yet sings, knowing that she hath
wings. We
live by faith, not by sight. This
capacity to believe is the most significant and fundamental human
faculty, and the most important thing about a man is what he believes
in the depth of his being. This is the thing that makes him what he
is; the thing that organizes him and feeds him; the thing that keeps
him going in the face of untoward circumstances; the thing that gives
him resistance and drive. Let neutrality, confusion, indifference,
or skepticism enter this inner place, and the very springs of life
will cease to flow. Faithless
is he that says farewell when the road darkens. Be
on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Doubt
is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother. Faith
is reason grown courageous. Be
strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. He
who has faith has... an inward reservoir of courage, hope, confidence,
calmness, and assuring trust that all will come out well - even though
to the world it may appear to come out most badly. Faith
is spiritualized imagination. God
always gives us strength enough, and sense enough, for everything
He wants us to do. Faith
is putting all your eggs in God's basket, then counting your blessings
before they hatch. If
you doubt there is a God, look deep into a rose; Feel
the softness of the petal, breathe the fragrant scent; Whoso
draws nigh to God one step through doubtings dim, God will advance
a mile in blazing light to him. Gracious God, In this season of Lent touch me with your quiet voice of calm and grace. Live in me and energize me that I may not only touch life, but be touched by it. You know the secret plan for the world using me and my hands, help me to listen and act. Give me faith to tackle the impossible. Renew my Spirit, so I will use my time wisely and accomplish all that you have planned for me to do. Amen. O
world, thou choosest not the better part! Faith
makes the discords of the present the harmonies of the future. Feed
your faith and your fears will starve to death. Every
tomorrow has two handles. We can take hold of it by the handle of
anxiety, or by the handle of faith. Therefore,
since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ. Finish
every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some
blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as
you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with
too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day
is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on yesterdays. The
light of God surrounds me Jesus
replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as
a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there,
and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Dear
God, for another day, for another minute, for another chance to live
and serve you, I am grateful. Please keep me free from fear of the
future, from anxiety about tomorrow, from bitterness towards anyone,
from cowardice in the face of danger, from laziness in my daily work,
from failure before opportunity, from weakness when your power is
at hand. But fill me with love that knows no bounds, with sympathy
that reaches all, with courage that cannot be shaken, with faith strong
enough for the darkness, with strength sufficient for my tasks. Be
with me for another day, and use me as you will. Amen May
the road rise up to meet you: Unknown,
but not uncharted, tomorrow waits for our arrival - a day designed,
a place prepared with tender care by the One who goes before us …
Let us walk with faith behind him in the footprints of his love. You go
no where by accident. O
God, help me to touch someone today with my eyes, my words,
