God has said, “Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5
Jesus said, “Do not worry about your life,
what you will eat; or about your body,
what you will wear. Life is more than food,
and the body more than clothes.”
Luke 12:22-23
Draw near to God and
He will draw near to you.
James 4:8
God will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.

PRAYING HANDS
There
are hands that help and comfort,
Hands that plan and teach,
Hands that rest and hands that strive
For a goal just out of reach,
Hands that grasp and hands that give,
Hands that work and play,
Friendly hands and loving hands
That soothes life's cares away.
But praying hands are dearest
In the sight of God above
For in their sweet and earnest clasp
Are reverence and love.
No hands can do an unkind act
Nor cause another care
Nor sin against Our Father's love
When they are clasped in prayer.

Consequently,
faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through
the word of Christ.
Romans 10:17
Faith is like a boomerang; begin using what you have and it comes
back to you in greater measure.
Charles L. Allen
Unknown, but not uncharted, tomorrow waits for our arrival –
a day designed, a place prepared with tender care by the One who goes
before us … Let us walk with faith behind him in the footprints
of his love.
Psalm 37:23
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the
new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17
This
capacity to believe is the most significant and fundamental human
faculty, and the most important thing about a man is what he believes
in the depth of his being. This is the thing that makes him what he
is; the thing that organizes him and feeds him; the thing that keeps
him going in the face of untoward circumstances; the thing that gives
him resistance and drive. Let neutrality, confusion, indifference,
or skepticism enter this inner place, and the very springs of life
will cease to flow.
Hugh Stevenson Tigner
God
wants us to make ourselves available to Him, and to say before we
start to plan, “Lord, tell me what You want me to do, where
You want me to go, how You want me to do it.” Then our omnipotent
God, with all the abundance of heaven at His disposal, will pour out
His power upon us. Instead of following our tiny, tiny plans, God
wants to open heaven and flood us. It’s exciting.
Evelyn Christenson
Dear
Lord I ask one thing of Thee, the gift of true simplicity. a cheery
fire, a rocking chair, enough to eat, enough to wear. A little cottage
built upon a spot that I can call my own, a garden and a shady tree.
A dog to keep me company. A pot that’s big enough to hold enough
to fill another bowl. A welcome mat that’s out to all, whenever
neighbors come to call. A bed, a lamp, a book or two. An old friend
and perhaps a new. And since all things are mine in Thee, then this
is quite enough for me.

To
pray is to change. This is a great grace. How good of God to provide
a path whereby our lives can be taken over by love. . . joy. . . peace.
. . patience. . . kindness. . .
Richard J. Foster
Take time to think. . .
It is the source of power.
Take time to play. . .
It is the secret of perpetual youth.
Take time to read . . .
It is the fountain of wisdom.
Take Time to pray . . .
It is the greatest power on earth.
Take time to love and be loved. . . .
It
is a God-given privilege.
Take time to be friendly. . .
It is the road to happiness.
Take time to laugh. . .
It is the music of the soul.
Take time to give. . .
It is too short a day to be selfish.
Take time to work. . .
It is the price of success.
Take time to do charity. . .
It is the key to heaven.

Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive.
One must never, for any reason, turn one’s back on life.
Eleanor Roosevelt
It
isn’t enough to say in our hearts
That we like a man for his ways,
It isn’t enough that we fill our minds
With paeans of silent praise;
Nor is it enough that we honor a man
As our confidence upward mounts,
It’s going right up to the man himself,
And telling him so that counts!
If a man does a work you really admire,
Don’t leave a kind word unsaid,
In fear that to do so might make him vain
And cause him to “lose his head.”
But reach out your hand and tell him,
“Well done,” and see how his gratitude swells;
It isn’t the flowers we strew on the grave,
It’s the work to the living that tells.

Therefore
encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you
are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Every
soul that touches yours –
Be it the slightest contact –
Gets from there some good;
Some little grace; one kindly thought;
One aspiration yet unfelt;
One bit of courage
For the darkening sky;
One gleam of faith
To brave the thickening ills of life;
One glimpse of brighter skies –
To make this life worthwhile
And heaven a surer heritage.
George Eliot
I
do not want merely to possess a faith; I want a faith that possesses
me.
Charles Kingsley
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am God, I am he who will sustain
you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and
I will rescue you.
Isaiah 46:4
As far as the east is from the west, so far has God removed our transgressions
from us.
Psalm 103:12
Heavenly Father, grant me the faith to place myself completely in
Your hands. Help me to grow and to find you when I seek you - to see
You in all of life. May I never know a moment without Your presence.
Amen
Life is a pure flame, and we live by an invisible sun within us.
Thomas Browne
Life
is a series of surprises, and would not be worth taking or keeping
if it were not.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Life is currently described in one of four ways: a journey, a battle,
a pilgrimage, or a race. Select your own metaphors, but the necessity
of finishing is all the same. For if life is a journey, it must be
completed. If life is a battle, it must be finished. If life is a
pilgrimage, it must be concluded. And if life is a race, it must be
won.
The War Cry
Do not pray for easy lives; pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for
tasks equal to your powers; pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then
the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you shall be a miracle.
Every day you shall wonder at yourself, at the richness of life which
has come to you by the grace of God.
Phillips Brooks
Thank you for the confidence you have given, Lord, that I can tell
you what’s in my heart and know you will listen – that
I can listen with an open heart and know you will speak.
1 Samuel 3:10
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13
Joan Lunden recalls, “When I first came on Good Morning America
in 1978, hosting with David Hartman, he got to interview all the celebrities
and politicians and kings. I got the information spots. I received
letters from women who were unhappy that I was allowing myself to
be used in this way. The fact was I enjoyed those spots and I was
good at them. I had to accept that it was either that way or no way
at all. I can’t see any reason to spend your time frustrated,
angry, or upset about things you don’t have or you can’t
have or you can’t yet do. I drill this into my children when
I hear them say, ‘I don’t have this.’ I’ll
say, ‘Don’t focus on what you don’t have. Focus
on what you do have and be grateful for it. Be proud of what you can
do. Those things you can’t do yet, maybe you will do.
Joan Lunden
Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength
lies.
Mother Teresa
Dear Lord, remind me not to be concerned about who does your work,
but rather that your work gets done. Show me what is most important
and take me where I am needed most. Amen
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child,
I reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I put childish ways
behind me.
I Corinthians 13:11
Always keep your eyes open for the little task, because it is the
little task that is important to Jesus Christ. The future of the Kingdom
of God does not depend on the enthusiasm of this or that powerful
person; those great ones are necessary too, but it is equally necessary
to have a great number of little people who will do a little thing
in the service of Christ.
The great flowing rivers represent only a small part of all the water
that is necessary to nourish and sustain the earth. Beside the flowing
river there is the water in the earth – the subterranean water
– and there are the little streams which continually enter the
river and feed it and prevent it from sinking into the earth. Without
these other waters – the silent hidden subterranean waters and
the trickling streams – the great river could no longer flow.
Thus it is with the little tasks to be fulfilled by us all.
Albert Schweitzer
We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those
who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28
Foreigners who wish to explore the wilderness areas of South America
alone must be well prepared to face a number of challenges. Those
venturing into the Amazon jungles or Andes Mountains without a guide
or adequate preparation will quickly find their lives in peril.
In A Slow and Certain Light, missionary Elisabeth Elliot tells of
two adventurers who stopped by to see her at her mission station.
Loaded heavily with equipment for the rain forest, they sought no
advice. They merely asked her to teach them a few phrases of the language
so they might converse a bit with the Indians.
Amazed at their temerity, she saw a parallel between these travelers
and Christians. She writes: "Sometimes we come to God as the
two adventurers came to me - confident and, we think, well-informed
and well-equipped. But has it occurred to us that with all our accumulation
of stuff, something is missing?"
She suggests that, in our own arrogance, we often ask God for far
too little. "We know what we need - a yes or no answer, please,
to a simple question. Or perhaps a road sign. Something quick and
easy to point the way. What we really ought to have is the Guide Himself.
Maps, road signs, a few useful phrases are good things, but infinitely
better is Someone who has been there before and knows the way."
In the midst of your busy and stressful day, you may face unexpected
situations. Trust God to be our Guide and pray, "Lord, I know
this didn't take you by surprise! You knew it was coming and have
already made a way for me. I thank You now that You are taking me
where I need to go and giving me everything I need to get over the
rough spots along the way."

For
you created my inmost being: you knit me together in my mother's womb.
Psalm 139:9
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one
of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How
vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber
the grains of sand.
Psalm 139:16-18
The One who made the world, created life, and prepared eternity holds
us as a Shepherd, carries his lambs. In his power, in his love, we
are secure.
Psalm 28:8-9
Heavenly Father, remind me each day that you are at work within me
and around me. Open my eyes to see your divine touch in all things.
When I am frightened, give me strength, help me to do all things for
you. Please show me the way. Amen.
Those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed.
They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary;
they will walk and not grow weak
Isaiah 40:31
Spread
love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house…let no
one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living
expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your
eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting.

Lord,
hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts
they perform for us in our time of need.
I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen
