Fairfax FISH

FISH in Need of Pantry Supplies and Volunteers

Due to high use, our FISH pantry is low or out of some staple items. To tide us over until the next food drive, please bring to church one or more of the items listed below and deposit them in the narthex extension for the next few weeks.

We need cereal, grape jelly or jam, canned fruit, canned meats and fish (chicken, roast beef, tuna), canned meals (stew, ravioli, chili) and rice. We have enough other items at this time to last until the next food drive.

FISH volunteers are also needed. Your FISH volunteers do an outstanding job responding to calls from Fairfax County Social Workers to help those who find themselves in a financial crisis. We need more volunteers to help when regular volunteers are away and to replace those who leave the area. The county does the screening and eligible clients are recommended to FISH for help with rent, mortgages, utilities, prescriptions, food and local transportation. Captains receive phone calls at their homes from social workers. Drivers deliver food or transport clients to and from medical appointments. If you can spare four hours every fifth week on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday, FISH NEEDS YOU!
