ANNOUNCEMENTS

Chapel Choir meets today at 4:30 and they are preparing for their participation in Abendmusik on April 20th. It's not too late to come and learn the music for this wonderful choral event. Contact Donna Whited
(DonnaKayWhited@aol.com) for more information.

What is "Abendmusik"? This is a German word that means "evening music." By using this term, we make reference to a historic set of concerts that inspired a young Johann Sebastian Bach and many others. We hope that our own Abendmusik will inspire our congregation and deepen our faith! This year's Abendmusik program is next Sunday, April 20, at 7:00 p.m. Our Chapel Choir, directed by Donna Whited, will open the concert. Then the Sanctuary Choir, directed by Kenneth Martin, will present selected choruses from Handel's oratorio Messiah, accompanied by organ and a chamber orchestra. These choruses are based entirely on significant scripture passages that describe the Christhood of Jesus. The music is not only beautiful, but also dramatically expressive and uplifting. Plan now to attend with your whole family, and invite some friends to come with you. There is no admission charge, though an offering will be received to support the music program at FPC. Nursery will be available for young children.

Chapel Choir is planning a field trip on Sunday, April 27th to hear The Children's Chorus of Washington in a benefit concert at The Old Presbyterian Meetinghouse in Alexandria. The concert is free and open to the public with proceeds from the free-will offering going to support the United Orphanage and Academy in Moi's Bridge, Kenya. The concert begins at 3:00 pm and all are invited to go with us. Contact Donna Whited for more information (DonnaKayWhited@aol.com).
