Introit Look! Here Is the Light K Martin
Look! Here is the light that reminds us that Christ shines among us;
For Christ is the light that lightens the whole world,
And Christ is the light that brightens our worship.

The Lighting of the Christ Candle

Call to Worship (responsive) Jessica Tate
L: This is the day the Lord has made.
P: Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
L: Be glad and rejoice – the Lord of Light has come and reigns forever. Christ is risen!
P: Christ is risen indeed! (adapted from All the Seasons of Mercy)

* Hymn 107 Celebrate with Joy and Singing Evelyn Chapel
(Vs 1, solo; Vs 2 & 3, congregation)

* Call to Confession
L: Christ is raised from the dead and in him we find new life. Trusting in God’s grace toward us, let us confess our sin together.

* Prayer of Confession (unison)
We come to you, O God, on this day of resurrection and hope, to again ask your forgiveness. Even on the heels of the resurrection we fail to see the new life you offer. We live in worry, fear, and guilt when you offer us freedom. We live in despair and scarcity when you call us to hope. Help us to see and to trust your offer of grace so that we can live into the fullness of life that you created for us. Amen. (Time for silent confession.)

* Assurance of Forgiveness (responsive)
L: Friends, believe the good news:
P: God’s mercy is from everlasting to everlasting.
L: In Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
P: Alleluia, Amen.

* Response to Our Assurance Gloria Patri #579, The Hymnal
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen, amen.

Scripture Lessons Psalms 116:12-19
1I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. 2Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. 3The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. 4Then I called on the name of the Lord: ‘OLord, I pray, save my life!’ 12What shall I return to the Lord for all his bounty to me? 13I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord, 14I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. 15Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones. 16O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, the child of your serving-maid. You have loosed my bonds. 17I will offer to you a thanksgiving sacrifice and call on the name of the Lord. 18I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people, 19in the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!

John 20:19-31
19When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ 22When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’24But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.’26A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ 27Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.’ 28Thomas answered him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ 29Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.’30Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 31But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.
L: This is the Word of the Lord.
P: Thanks be to God.
