Equal Exchange, the organization which sells fair-traded coffee, tea, chocolate and nuts, celebrated its 20th birthday in July.from countries that supply products for Equal Exchange came to Boston for a two-day conference and celebration.
These conferees live in countries throughout the world—Equal Exchange supports 24 coffee cooperatives in 13 countries and 11 tea co-ops in 7 countries.got into the act to celebrate the birthday and had a good time telling each other how they farm in their countries and run their co-ops.
Tea was one of the first products marketed by Equal Exchange, but a relatively new tea in their product line is organic Rooibos (pronounced roy-boss), a tea from South Africia.to their brochure, Rooibos tea has the same properties as green and black tea, including their health benefits. Many people prefer its taste to that of green or black teas. You might like to try it.
Pecans and almonds are now available as well from Equal Exchange.almonds come from Big Tree Organic Farm Co-op in central California; the pecans from Southern Alternatives Agricultural Co-op in Southwest Georgia.nuts are packaged in six 5oz packages to a box.
Equal Exchange sells dried, sweetened cranberries, also packaged in six 5-oz packages to a box.
