Enjoying Organically Grown Beverages
A recent cartoon in The Washington Post featured two sophisticated gentlemen enjoying their “organically grown” aged Scotch whiskey.
It brought to mind FPC’s own organically grown beverage — Equal Exchange coffee. Granted, coffee and Scotch don’t have much in common except, in this case, the fact that they are both organically grown and fairly traded!
Equal Exchange coffee comes from several different parts of the world. Much of it comes from Central and South America, of course, but Africa also exports coffee as does Sumatra. You can find lists of all the varieties sold by Equal Exchange in one of the bottom slots on the kiosk in the narthex. You’ll enjoy comparing the subtle taste differences of coffee from the various origins listed. Current prices are also included.
Nor are you limited to coffee. Starting in October, you will be able to order organic chocolate, including Milk Chocolate with Almonds, Very Dark Chocolate and Dark Chocolate Mini Bars. The latter come in a box of about 888 small bars for $133.20, about 15 cents a bar. Share a box with a friend, and your Christmas stocking-stuffer problem is solved! The other bars cost $23.40 for a box of 12 bars.
Satisfy your coffee, chocolate and tea cravings by calling Linda Potts to place your order today! Contact Linda Potts through the church office at 703-273-5300 to place an order for the Presbyterian Coffee Project. Linda places coffee orders about every six weeks.
When ordering, please be as specific as possible by providing her with the names of the products you want, the amount of each you need, and the item codes. There are new order forms on the kiosk that provide all the necessary information.
Also, please note the following changes in products provided by Equal Exchange:
-
Breakfast Blend decaf is available in 12 ounce bags; it is not labeled Organic Decaf CO2. Organic Decaf CO2 will not be available in two pound bags.
-
Two coffee varieties, Tanzania and Café Nica, will no longer be available due to insufficient demand.
-
Equal Exchange chocolate will not be available until October as it can’t be shipped during the hot summer months.
